Section Information for Fall 2016
This course will survey a variety of literary magazines and examine the aesthetic characteristics that distinguish each of them. We will read closely from one issue every two weeks and remotely conference with fiction editors from that magazine, to learn about the choices that went into the magazine's development, as well as strategies to use when submitting work. The course will also include a written component, such as writing to a particular theme or form. Featured magazines may include Granta, Oxford American, One Story, Orion, A Public Space, and Guernica.
