Rosemary Pinney is a Ph.D. student in GMU's Writing and Rhetoric Program. Her research interests revolve around the concept of empathy, its implications for feedback on professional writing, and its potential to help negotiate difference to create learning spaces where more just social relations can take root. She approaches her work through the lenses of rhetorical theory as well as theory of narrative and peace thought. Beyond the program, she serves as a full-time Grant Manager for the Boulder Crest Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to facilitating posttraumatic growth for the military, veteran, and first-responder communities through transformative programs, world-class training and education initiatives, and research and advocacy efforts. She also serves as an Adjunct Instructor of Writing and Rhetoric at Virginia Military Institute. In these roles and her doctoral studies, Rosemary draws on her three decades of experience as a intelligence professional to inform and enrich her research and writing.
